Getting Started

We take a personalized approach to every student. Here's what the process looks like from your first call to your child's first session.

  • 1. Schedule an Intro Call

The first step is a casual, no-pressure conversation. This free call is a chance for us to get to know each other — I'll learn a little about your child, what you're seeing at home or hearing from their teacher, and what you're hoping to get out of tutoring. After our call, I'll send you a brief survey to help me better understand your child's needs and what you're looking for so I can start thinking about the best path forward.

  • 2. Reading Assessment

If you decide to move forward, the next step is a reading assessment. This is a 90-minute one-on-one session with your child in a relaxed, unhurried environment with plenty of time for breaks. The assessment gives me a complete picture of where your child is — their strengths, the areas where they need support, and how they approach reading. If your child has been assessed recently by a school or another specialist, you're welcome to send me those results instead.

The assessment is $100 and includes a written report specific to your child with my detailed evaluation and a recommendation for next steps.

  • 3. Review and Recommendation

Once the assessment is complete, we'll schedule a short call to go over the results together. I'll walk you through what I found, share my recommendation for the type of program that would be the best fit, and answer any questions or concerns you have. If I don't think tutoring is the right step for your child, I'll tell you that too — along with what I'd suggest instead.

  • 4. Start Sessions

Once we've found the right fit, we'll get your child enrolled and started. Whether that's 1:1 tutoring, a small group session, or our Ready to Read kindergarten prep program, every session is built around your child's specific needs using structured literacy and the science of reading.
