The Discovery Reading Club is run by me, Candace Babcock, a reading specialist in Bozeman, Montana. This policy explains what information I collect when you use thediscoveryreadingclub.com and the member portal, how I use it, and the choices you have. What I collect

• Account information. When you create a free account or become a member: your name, email address, and (if you choose to give it) your phone number.
• Payment information. Memberships are paid through Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by me. I can see basic details such as your name, the last four digits of your card, and your payment history.
• Email sign-ups. When you sign up for the free 5-Day Reading Discovery Challenge or another free resource: your first name and email address.
• Messages. Anything you send me through the contact form or by email.
• Families I work with directly. If you work with me one-on-one, information you choose to share about your child's reading, such as intake forms. This is kept private and is only seen by me.
• Basic technical information. Like most websites, my hosting provider records things like your browser type and IP address to keep the site running and secure.

How I use it

• To create and run your account and give you access to what you've signed up for.
• To process your membership payments and manage your subscription.
• To send the emails you signed up for, such as the 5-Day Challenge and welcome emails with tips and resources. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link.
• To send account emails, such as sign-in links, receipts, and important changes to your membership.
• To answer your questions and improve the library based on what families need.

I do not sell or rent your personal information, and I never will.

Who helps me run the site

I use a small number of trusted services to run The Discovery Reading Club. They only use your information to provide their service to me:

• Stripe: membership payments
• Supabase: secure database and account sign-in
• Vercel: website hosting
• Resend: sending email
• Google Workspace: my business email inbox
• Meta: measuring and showing my ads (see Cookies below)

I may also share information if the law requires it.

Cookies

The site uses cookies to keep you signed in to your account.

On the public pages (the website, blog, 5-Day Challenge, and join pages), I also use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (Facebook and Instagram). It uses cookies to tell me how my ads are working, for example whether someone who saw an ad later signed up for the Challenge or became a member, and to show my ads to people who have visited the site. Meta receives information such as the pages you visit and your browser details, and uses it under Meta's privacy policy. The Meta Pixel is never used inside the member area, the parent portal, or anywhere with information about children.

You can control ad tracking in your browser's cookie settings and in your Facebook ad preferences.

Children's privacy

The Discovery Reading Club is designed for parents, caregivers, and teachers to use with children. Accounts are for adults. Kids can play the games and use the activities, but I don't ask children for personal information, and I don't knowingly collect it from children under 13. If you believe a child has given me personal information, email me and I'll delete it.

How long I keep it

I keep your account information while your account is open. If you close your account, I delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable time, except records I need to keep for tax, accounting, or legal reasons (such as payment records).

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime with the link at the bottom of any email.
• See, correct, or delete your information by emailing me. I'll respond within 30 days.
• Cancel your membership anytime from your Account page.

Keeping your information safe

Your information is stored with providers that use encryption and industry-standard security, and access to it is limited to me. No system is perfectly secure, but I take protecting your family's information seriously.

Changes to this policy

If I make meaningful changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let members know by email.
